SINGLE PARENT FAMILIES PROGRAM

Empowering Single-Parent Families: A Pathway to Strength and Success

The Single Parent Families Program provides low-income single parents in Philadelphia with nominal grants to support them in accessing further enrichment opportunities for their children. Originally beginning as a program that benefited the children in the families, the program is now benefiting the parents as well.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The program is based on the belief that to help a child, you must support the system in which they live. Through this program, we provide additional resources for parents who are working hard to provide the best for their children and help them get ahead in life. Whether academic, athletic, artistic, or vocational, related to mental well-being or in support of future education or employment prospects, the goal is to help them provide additional resources that might otherwise be out of reach and to break free of generational cycles of immobility and poverty.

The program also provides grants to the parents themselves, so that they also have the opportunity to pursue enrichment opportunities that help provide transformative moments for them and their families. In Philadelphia, the Single Parent Families Program is solely administered by the Caring People Alliance (CPA), a non-profit dedicated to reducing poverty and injustice.
